Privacy & Data Handling Summary

Effective: Pre-launch draft
Last Updated: August 03, 2026

info Important Highlights

Before proceeding, please note the following core principles governing your use of CasePath:

  • Local projects: Browser-local projects remain on this device unless the user exports them.
  • Retention: A final retention schedule for account metadata, support, payment and legally required records has not been approved.
  • Service providers: Provider access must be limited to the service being used, disclosed at the relevant action and protected by the product's consent and readiness gates.

1. Introduction

This page explains what stays in this browser, what limited project details may be connected to an account and which online services are not available yet.

It is a current summary, not a claim that the final privacy policy, retention periods or every external service arrangement has been approved.

2. Data Collection

Browser-local editing state stays in this browser unless the user exports it. When a signed-in user explicitly confirms a save, CasePath can store bounded structured project state for recovery. Original assignment files, unbounded source documents, hidden file metadata, local paths and raw AI payloads are excluded.

Data collection should be limited to what is reasonably necessary for the product function being used. Optional external processing requires a clear notice and the relevant consent gate.

3. Usage Rights

Students remain responsible for their work and keep their own copies. CasePath does not claim an institutional assessment role or grant universities access to project data.

Structured project recovery and Account metadata export are separate from browser-local project export. Deleting a saved account project removes its durable structured state but does not delete a separate browser-local copy. Final account deletion execution is not enabled and must not be described as complete.

4. AI Integration

Live AI is not available to ordinary users. Before any future AI action sends text to an external service, the screen must explain what will be sent, ask for consent and confirm that the account and project are allowed to use it.

5. Current safeguards

Current protections keep full project content in this browser, limit account records to specific project details, check project ownership and require consent for relevant actions.

These safeguards do not mean that full online storage, final account deletion, public payment or ordinary-user Live AI is ready. Each still requires separate production verification.
